When founder and visionary of the Theatre, Micheál Carr passed away in 2016 his with was that the Theatre survives and thrives for generations to come in North Kerry and be entrusted to the Community of Ballybunion.
In October 2020 the company reformed from an Industrial and Providential Society (North Kerry Arts, Cultural and Heritage Society Ltd) to a CLG 'NKArts Theatre' with a new Board of Directors from the Business and Arts Community of the are. The Company has full Charitable Status.
